This is one of my favorite pieces I've ever done. It was lost, when I displayed it in a friends home art show. The only evidence I had left was the fact that my friend had posted it on his myspace, which explains the poor quality. I think that it's till a fairly good representation of my capabilites and style.
I want to do more things like this.

parrotskissing
I'm happy to get something up this weekend. I could not get this to photograph the way that it looks in person. This was a custom piece for my friend Eric. He and his girlfriend have an inside joke about parrots He wanted me to keep it simple. I like the feathers and the tree.
EDIT:
I'm thinking about reworking this before I give it to him. I love the birds, but the background is kind of bleek. I feel like I should just paint it black or and some bright colors that are very painterly and less representative of a "jungle"

Busy weekend.
I've been hanging out with my little sister all weekend. She drew me a hip hop rhinoceros. I started working on a flyer for my friend's party. It's 1920's Gangster-inspired. I need to work on my self-promotional postcards, but I'm not sure if I should use new work or something I already have. Since my style has changed so much, I feel like I should use at least 2 different pictures.
I got a new printer this weekend. It's photo quality. Probably not nice enough to use to print my own high-quality prints for selling, but it's nice for references and my personal photographs. It's also got a scanner. I'm hoping to start posting some more sketches and unfinished works soon.

2apple paintings
These are two paintings that I did for my mom several years ago. They are a good example of a commissioned piece. I painted them from a still life that I set up (not a photograph). She let me borrow them only for a few days, but I'm really glad I finally got pictures of them.
I have so much to work on this weekend. I'm finishing a painting for my friend Eric, do a flyer for a party, and potentially an original painting that I would like to use for my 500 postcards that I won from my friend Candace's blog. http://www.pinwheelillustrationdesign.com/ (this is her website). The great news is that In exchange for my artwork, I have obtained 75% off of a custom website, and a custom teeth whitening tray. Networking and trading is so fun.

Tomboy
Since I still have some pieces in the works, I thought I would share some previous work today. This was sold/given to my friend Dan who lives in Austin. It's a picture of my sister from when she was around 6. She was always a tomboy. I like the lighting and how free she looks.

Getting Started
I'm just starting out with my own personal business. I've got some great pieces, but I just don't have enough work yet. I've done three paintings this week, and I've got ideas for many more. I'm working a full-time job in an office, and I have so much more in me than this. I'm dedicating all of my time outside my day job to my passion. This blog is here to share my work, my process and my inspiration.
The owl to the right is a painting I completed last night, as one piece of a new animal series I am working on. It's in acrylic which I've been using lately. It gives me faster results than the oil painting I'm used to.
My goals for this year are to create at least one full series, develop my own style, and get myself back into the art world.
I've set up an etsy shop to sell my work. www.nicoleillustration.etsy.com
My own portfolio website is currently in the works, and I will post it when I have it completed.
